Most people looking for a Geckoboard alternative are not unhappy with the idea of live numbers. They just do not have a wall. Geckoboard is built to put live KPIs on an office TV so a whole team sees them through the day. If you run your business alone, there is no team looking up at a screen. There is you, at your desk, switching between Stripe, your CRM, your calendar and your task list, trying to decide what to do next.
This post is for that reader. It compares Geckoboard and Vexlynk using Geckoboard’s own website for its side, and it says plainly when Geckoboard is the better fit.
What is Geckoboard built for?
As of October 2026, Geckoboard’s website describes it as “KPI dashboard software that turns live data from your business tools into clear dashboards your team can see throughout the day: on TVs, in Slack and Microsoft Teams, by email, on mobile, and in the browser.” It says it is for “teams where performance changes during the day and seeing the numbers sooner changes what people do next”, from sales and support to operations, marketing, leadership and finance.
Its product page fills in the rest. TV dashboards are “where we started out”: any TV works with off-the-shelf hardware, and you can manage screens remotely and rotate between dashboards. It lists 90+ integrations, including Salesforce, HubSpot, Zendesk, Aircall and Google Sheets, plus spreadsheets and an API for your own metrics. You build dashboards with drag and drop. It sends scheduled snapshots to email, Slack or Teams, alerts people in Slack or Teams when a KPI crosses a threshold, and offers leaderboards and celebrations for reps and agents. For AI, it offers an MCP connection so assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT can query your live metrics. It also says plainly that it is not a BI tool.
In short, Geckoboard is about visibility for a team: one clear number, in plain sight, for everyone who can act on it. It has paid plans for different team sizes; see their pricing page.
Why look for a Geckoboard alternative when you work alone?
Because the problem changes shape. A team needs everyone to see the same number at the same time. A solo owner already sees every number, eventually. What they lack is the step after seeing: connecting the number to the work, and deciding what to do about it before the day fills up.
Vexlynk is built for that step. It is a visual workspace, a canvas, where your accounts become live cards: HubSpot shows your deal pipeline by stage, going-cold signals and new contacts; Calendly shows who booked and when; Stripe shows revenue, subscriptions and recent payments, read-only; ClickUp and Trello show your tasks with overdue items highlighted. Those cards sit next to your own notes and to-dos, and an AI agent reads all of it together. The full catalogue is on the sources page.
What does a working board do that a wall screen does not?
You can act from some of the cards
Most Vexlynk sources are read-only, but a few let you act without leaving the board: reply on WhatsApp, add, complete or reply on a ClickUp task, update a Trello card, or add a Google Calendar event. These happen only when you do them yourself, and sending a message, archiving, completing or deleting asks you to confirm first.
The agent reads the board, not only the metrics
The agent sees every card on the board: live source data, your notes, to-dos, spreadsheets, link cards when you ask, and the labeled lines you draw between cards. Ask “what should I be worried about this week?” and it answers from your pipeline, your bookings, your overdue tasks and what you wrote, and shows which cards it used. The agent guide lists what it can and cannot see.
Analyses that come to you
Instead of a screen you glance at, Vexlynk has Vlynks, built-in analyses that write a card on your board with each finding cited to its cards. Morning Brief runs the first time you come back after six or more hours away: the top signal, the one action worth doing, and what to watch. Client Health Monitor merges messages, bookings, deals, payments and reviews into per-client health. Operator Actions, on Plus and Pro, writes a daily record the first time you open Vexlynk, with five moves in priority order, sized to how full your day already looks on your calendar and task cards.
If you want a result placed on the board on a schedule, Flows do that. One honest limit: a Flow runs without the app open only when the board lives in the cloud (the web workspace, or the desktop app with sync on), and cloud Flows use Vexlynk’s hosted AI.

What does a morning on the board look like?
Take a hypothetical consultant who sells coaching packages, books calls through Calendly and tracks deals in HubSpot.
- The board. HubSpot, Calendly, Stripe and Google Calendar are connected. A Calendar Sync card shows Google Calendar events and Calendly bookings together in one month view. A ClickUp card shows this week’s tasks, overdue ones highlighted. A note holds the goal for the quarter.
- Opening the app. Morning Brief has written its card: the top signal from overnight and the one action worth doing first.
- A question. “Which deals have gone quiet, and do any of those people have a call booked?” The agent reads the HubSpot going-cold signals and the Calendly bookings together and names the overlap.
- Acting. You add a follow-up task from the ClickUp card, without opening ClickUp.
Nothing here needs a wall. It needs the numbers and the work in one place, and something that reads both. For more tools in this space, see the full roundup.
When is Geckoboard the better choice?
- You have a team and a screen. If a sales floor or support team should see today’s number at a glance, Geckoboard is built for exactly that, down to managing TVs remotely. Vexlynk’s docs describe no TV mode.
- Numbers need to reach Slack, Teams or email. Geckoboard sends scheduled snapshots and threshold alerts there. Vexlynk works inside its own workspace.
- People without an account need to see dashboards. Geckoboard describes sharing links with no login and no charge for view-only users.
- Your stack is Salesforce, Zendesk or Aircall. Those are among Geckoboard’s named integrations and are not in Vexlynk’s source catalogue.
- You want motivation features. Leaderboards and deal celebrations are part of Geckoboard’s product.
- You check numbers on a phone. Geckoboard describes mobile access. Vexlynk’s canvas is built for a computer screen.
If you work alone, decide at a desk, and want the numbers next to your tasks with an agent that reads them, Vexlynk is the closer fit.

Frequently asked questions
Can I show a Vexlynk board on an office TV?
Vexlynk’s docs do not describe a TV or wallboard mode. It is built as a workspace you use at a computer, not a display for a room.
Does Vexlynk send alerts?
Its docs do not describe alerts to Slack or email. Inside the app, Morning Brief runs when you come back after six or more hours away, Vlynks can run daily or weekly, and Flows place a result on your board on a schedule.
Does the agent use my live data or a copy?
It reads what your connected sources have fetched, and every card shows when it was last updated. If an answer depends on data you have not connected, it says so rather than guessing.
Can I use Vexlynk without the cloud?
Yes. The desktop app stores boards on your computer, and cloud sync is optional and off by default. Connected sources and the agent still need a connection to reach outside services.
